Judge orders evidentiary hearing in appeal of tech worker’s conviction for murder of CashApp CEO

A San Francisco Superior Court judge advanced claims of racial bias in the appeal of Nima Momeni, a tech worker convicted of murdering CashApp founder Bob Lee in 2023. The judge allowed claims about the prosecution's dehumanizing language and ethnic references to proceed to an evidentiary hearing, while dismissing others. An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for August 14.
