California grocery prices could spike as nonrecyclable packaging fees go into effect
California grocery prices may increase as fees under Senate Bill 54, the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act, take effect next month. The 2022 law aims to eliminate single-use plastics and require all packaging sold in California to be recyclable or compostable by 2032.
