Seabirds displaced by HRBT construction to be relocated to manmade island
Seabirds displaced by the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) construction will be relocated to a manmade island set to be built in 2027. The island will serve as a safe haven and breeding area for the seabird colony, which was moved in 2020 due to tunnel expansion. An environmental assessment for the project has been approved.
