[US based] Constant spam from a single area code based in British Columbia asking if I blocked them?

A US-based individual is receiving persistent spam texts from a British Columbia area code (672) asking if they have blocked the sender. The messages, originating from different numbers within the same area code, began during a recent visit to Canada and continue afterward. The recipient suspects a scam but is concerned it might be harassment or something more serious.
