Japan admits growing need to counter espionage after Russian ‘den of spies’ report

Japan has acknowledged the need to enhance counter-espionage measures after a New York Times report revealed that Russia has transformed the country into a spy hub and a source for weapons components. The report attributed this to weak espionage laws enabling Moscow to gather intelligence and procure dual-use technology for its war in Ukraine.
