U.S. sanctions Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism, or MINTUR

The U.S. Treasury and State Department imposed sanctions on Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) and several state-owned entities, including GECOMEX and GEMAR, as part of efforts to counter Cuban regime activities. The sanctions also targeted energy sector companies and enforcement organizations like the Brigadas de Respuesta Rápida. A group of Democratic lawmakers visiting Cuba criticized the Trump administration’s policies.
