US outbreak of parasite causing ‘watery diarrhea’ rises to more than 2,800 cases

An outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness causing 'watery diarrhea', has affected over 2,800 cases in Michigan and Ohio. The outbreak follows a year of funding cuts by the Trump administration to state and local health departments and a reduction in a foodborne illness coordination program.
