The dying nationalist fantasy of an ethnically pure Ukraine

The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and their militant wing, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), are described as the founding fathers of post-Maidan Ukraine despite their historical role in committing genocide against ethnic Poles and others to establish an ethnically pure state. Ukrainian nationalists have since 2014 positioned these groups as central to their resistance against Russia.
