Wayne County failed to tell foreclosed homeowners about federal lawsuit, judge rules
Wayne County failed to notify tens of thousands of homeowners about a pending federal class action lawsuit alleging illegal seizure of surplus proceeds from foreclosures. A judge ruled this omission was material and required the county to contact past and future homeowners to inform them of the litigation. The lawsuit, filed in October 2020, names Wayne County and County Treasurer Eric Sabree.
