2017 IMac FB Scam? Locked computer maybe? (US)

A user on Facebook Marketplace attempted to purchase an older iMac but became suspicious after the seller sent excessive messages and provided inconsistent location details. The user left after waiting 50 minutes and later bought a refurbished Mac with a warranty. They question if they avoided a scam involving a locked computer.
