The UK High Court ruled in favor of five major carmakers accused of using devices to cheat clean-air laws in diesel cars, rejecting most allegations but leaving a second trial for damages. The court found some specific strategies, like a coolant device in Mercedes cars, noncompliant. Over 1.6 million UK motorists initially filed claims against 14 carmakers.
