Judge rules man not guilty by reason of insanity in 2021 Rock Hill shooting
A York County judge ruled Nathan Jarrod Thomas not guilty by reason of insanity for the 2021 fatal shooting of Jaleel Jones in Rock Hill. Thomas admitted to shooting Jones, stealing his vehicle, and abandoning the body, but mental health experts testified he was unable to distinguish right from wrong due to severe mental illness. Prosecutors did not dispute the insanity claim, and Thomas will remain in a state psychiatric hospital under court supervision.
