Oakland police investigate death of man found shot near 580 entrance

Jermaine Newton, a 47-year-old City of Oakland employee, was shot and killed while walking his dog near Old Quarry Loop and Leona Drive in East Oakland. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred blocks from Newton’s home.
