OpenAI's new voice model wants you to talk over it

OpenAI is introducing GPT-Live, a voice model for ChatGPT that enables simultaneous listening and speaking, allowing the AI to interject with acknowledgments like 'mmhm' while users speak. The update aims to make AI interactions feel more natural, with real-time translation and multitasking capabilities demonstrated. Similar technology is being developed by Thinking Machines, led by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati.
