Funeral processions for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were held in Iraq’s holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, with thousands of mourners. His body was transported to Karbala before returning to Iran. Khamenei was killed in late February in U.S. and Israeli strikes, and his successor, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has not yet appeared in the funeral ceremonies.
