Thornton paramedics can now give whole blood transfusions before patients reach the hospital
The Thornton Fire Department, in partnership with HCA HealthONE Mountain Ridge, now carries whole blood on ambulances to administer transfusions to trauma patients before hospital arrival. The program, launched on June 29, has already treated four patients, aiming to restore oxygen and clotting faster to improve survival outcomes.
