How Philippine ube farming can cash in on ‘purple gold rush’
Esmeraldo Maligsa, president of the Bohol Ube Growers Association, harvests 2,000kg of ube every seven months, with the group collectively producing 5-8 tonnes. The tuber, called 'Queen of Philippine yams,' sells for 90-100 pesos per kg in Bohol and nearby central Philippines areas.
