Unpatchable 'usbliter8' Exploit Breaks Apple A12 and A13 SecureROM Boot Chain
Security researchers at Paradigm Shift discovered an unpatchable exploit named usbliter8 that allows arbitrary code execution in the SecureROM of Apple's A12 and A13 chips. The flaw exists in hardware and cannot be fixed via software updates, affecting devices with these chips indefinitely. The attack requires physical access and is not remote.
