7-year-old boy drowns in southwest Charlotte retention pond
A 7-year-old boy drowned in a retention pond in southwest Charlotte on June 17 after entering the water and failing to reach shore. Firefighters responded to a water rescue call around 6:25 p.m., located the boy in the pond near Lady Bell Drive, and pronounced him dead at the hospital.
