Africa: Mombasa Declaration Unites 15 Countries in Fight Against Illegal Fishing

Fifteen countries have united under the Mombasa Declaration to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, which depletes fish populations and is linked to human rights abuses and environmental destruction. The issue affects global fish consumption, with an estimated one in five fish linked to illegal practices and over 120,000 fishers trapped in modern slavery.
