US Air Force B-52 bomber crashes in California, killing all 8 crew aboard

A US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed during takeoff at Edwards Air Force Base in California, killing all eight crew members. The aircraft, on a routine test mission for a radar modernisation programme, burst into flames immediately after takeoff. Boeing, the manufacturer, confirmed two of its employees were among the deceased.
