Boulder's NCAR testing hyperlocal wind forecasting that could help firefighting

Scientists at Boulder's National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) are developing hyperlocal wind forecasting using drones, supercomputers, and the FastEddy modeling tool to predict wind patterns at a two-meter scale. The project, in collaboration with the University of Kentucky, aims to improve wildfire response, air quality tracking, and aerial transportation safety by capturing micro-level wind data near the ground.
