Anthropic disables Fable and Mythos AI models after U.S. government bars it from giving foreigners access

Anthropic disabled its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models after the U.S. Commerce Department barred foreign access under national security export controls. The company argued the directive, which applies to all foreign nationals including U.S.-based non-citizens, forced a full shutdown of the models and disputes the government’s reasoning as overly broad.
