Cuba's government accused US Secretary of State Marco Rubio of reinforcing the economic and energy blockade against the island following Washington's sanctions on state company Unión Cuba-Petróleo (Cupet). Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez claimed Rubio used 'usual vulgar lies' to justify the measure.
