SC sets aside order closing Imran’s right to defence in Rs10bn defamation suit by PM Shehbaz

The Supreme Court of Pakistan, by a 2-1 majority, overturned its previous order that had closed Imran Khan's right to defense in a Rs10 billion defamation case filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The court remanded the matter to the trial court to allow Imran Khan to respond to interrogatories, citing legal infirmities in the application of Order XI, Rule 21 of the Civil Procedure Code and his medical incapacity due to a shooting incident.
