UNHCR says fewer people displaced worldwide in 2025 but long-term refugee crisis persists

The UNHCR reported a decline in global displacement numbers in 2025 for the first time in a decade, with 5.4 million people fleeing their homes, but the total number of refugees and those in similar situations remains at 41.6 million, including 6 million Palestinian refugees.
