Cannot jail cheque bounce convict beyond six months for default in payment of fine: Karnataka High Court
The Karnataka High Court ruled that a person convicted for cheque bouncing cannot be imprisoned for more than six months for failing to pay a fine. The court specified that default imprisonment cannot exceed one-fourth of the maximum punishment prescribed for the offense.
