Weather tracker: Monsoon season brings vital rainfall to parts of Asia
The monsoon season has begun in parts of Asia, with India declaring its onset after Kerala received up to 280mm of rain in 72 hours. Southwest Thailand also experienced heavy downpours. The monsoon arises from a temperature difference between the Asian land mass and the Indian Ocean, driving moisture-laden air inland and causing intense rainfall.
