Hong Kong saves HK$69 million in first month after HK$2 fare scheme revamp

Hong Kong saved HK$69 million in the first month after revising its public transport subsidy scheme, as fewer elderly and disabled commuters used long-haul routes for short trips. The changes, effective April 3, reduced the average government subsidy for trips over HK$10, according to Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han.
