Cutie cat AR-15 parody products spur lawsuit

A North Carolina gun store, Bad Attitude Department, LLC, is suing firearms manufacturer Q, LLC over a cease and desist letter demanding they stop selling parody AR-15 lower receiver products featuring a cat graphic derived from Q's logo. The products, labeled 'Q T Cat,' include the engraving 'NOT FRIENDLY DO NOT PET' to critique Q's founder, Kevin Brittingham, whom the store claims has an abrasive public persona. Q alleges trademark infringement and trade dress misappropriation, while Bad Attitude argues the items are protected parody.
