Dead but deportable: US immigration judge signed order to eject teen murder victim

A U.S. immigration judge in Charlotte, North Carolina, ordered the deportation of Levi Mendez-Maldonado in absentia on 21 May, despite being informed he had died in a 2024 shooting. Mendez-Maldonado, from Honduras, arrived in the U.S. as an unaccompanied minor at age 17.
