Hackers duped Meta AI support chatbot to steal celebrity Instagram accounts

Hackers exploited Meta’s AI support chatbot by using a VPN to change email addresses of high-value Instagram accounts, enabling them to steal and resell the accounts on the gray market. The attack affected notable accounts, including the Barack Obama White House and the Chief Master Sergeant of Space Force, before Meta patched the vulnerability on May 29.
