Invasive grapevine-killing pest found in hundreds of Bay Area plants

An invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter pest, which spreads Pierce’s disease fatal to grapevines, was discovered in hundreds of plants sold at Costco stores in the Bay Area. The infested grapevines originated from Burchell Nursery in Fresno County, prompting counties including Napa, Contra Costa, and Marin to issue alerts and destroy most of the plants.
