Homeland Security’s Plan to Squeeze International Flights
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin is pursuing a plan to reduce federal screening staffing at major U.S. airports in sanctuary cities that limit ICE cooperation, potentially causing flight cancellations and economic disruption. The proposal targets airports in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major cities as leverage to force compliance with immigration enforcement. Travel industry executives have warned the administration that such a move would be devastating and logistically unfeasible.
