Trump-backed candidate wins Kentucky primary to replace Barr

Ralph Alvarado, a Trump-backed former Tennessee health commissioner and Kentucky state senator, won the Republican primary for Kentucky's 6th Congressional District to replace retiring Rep. Andy Barr. Alvarado, a physician and early Trump supporter, will compete in a district Democrats have added to their target list despite its strong Republican lean.
