Former University of Michigan researcher accused of hiding Chinese military drone ties

A Chinese national who worked as a research scholar at the University of Michigan is accused of lying to federal authorities about his involvement in designing and manufacturing military drones for China. Chuan Wang allegedly concealed his role as co-founder of Tianxun Chuangxin Tech, a drone manufacturer supplying the Chinese military, during visa applications and customs interviews. This case marks the twelfth federal national security charge against a Chinese national tied to the University of Michigan since 2023.
