US hantavirus case was false positive; outbreak cases drop from 11 to 10
The US case of hantavirus on the cruise ship MV Hondius was found to be a false positive, reducing the outbreak cases from 11 to 10. The case was originally reported as mildly positive by US health officials and inconclusive by the World Health Organization. The false positive case was attributed to Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, an American doctor aboard the ship.
