Supreme Court voting rights ruling fuels a new push to defend Black representation

Civil rights leaders and activists are organizing a renewed push to defend Black political representation following a Supreme Court ruling that weakened the Voting Rights Act by prohibiting race-based considerations in congressional district drawing. The NAACP and scores of allied organizations are planning rallies in Alabama to catalyze opposition to what they view as efforts to dismantle voting protections established during the Civil Rights Movement.
