What to know about Xi’s warning to Trump over the ‘Taiwan Question’

China's President Xi Jinping warned the US that Beijing and Washington will have clashes and conflicts if the Taiwan issue is not handled properly. Xi stressed that the Taiwan question is the most important issue in ties between Beijing and Washington. China sees self-ruled Taiwan as its own breakaway province, to be retaken by force if necessary.
