Longtime Dem Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles to resign months into new term

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles is resigning effective June 30, less than six months into her new term, to spend time with her grandchildren. She has served as mayor since 2017 and previously served on the City Council. The Charlotte City Council will decide who completes the remainder of her term.
