Astera speaks softly and carries a big switch

Astera Labs unveiled an alternative to Nvidia's NVSwitch, called Scorpio X, which offers 320 lanes of PCIe 6.0 connectivity and 5.12 TB/s of bidirectional bandwidth. The AI fabric switch is designed to work with nearly any accelerator and can be used as a vendor-agnostic alternative. Astera claims that Scorpio X can accelerate collective communications, especially for generative AI inference.
