Evacuees from flooded remote Indigenous areas in NT housed in compound likened to ‘a prison camp’
Hundreds of evacuees from remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory are housed behind temporary fences with strict security measures, including sign-in/out at gates and searches of vehicles and bags. The evacuation followed record flooding of the Daly River in March, displacing families from Palumpa and Nauiyu for the second time in four weeks.
