Statewide retail theft operations lead to 32K arrests, $260M in recovered items since October 2023

California law enforcement agencies reported over 32,000 arrests, 25,000 case referrals for prosecution, and recovery of nearly $260 million in stolen goods since October 2023. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the results of statewide retail theft operations, including 2,615 theft-related convictions by thirteen district attorneys’ offices receiving state funding for organized retail theft prosecution.
