Officer Stole Injured Photog’s Cameras After Delaney Hall Protest, State AG Says

A sergeant from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stole over $10,000 in camera equipment from an injured photographer who abandoned her bag during clashes at a protest outside an immigrant detention center in Newark. The photographer, injured and seeking medical help, left her clearly labeled bag with airtagged keys, which were later tracked to the sergeant’s home. The attorney general’s office obtained a warrant, recovered the gear, and charged the sergeant with third-degree theft.
