Hong Kong police to launch 2-week crackdown on distracted drivers and jaywalkers

Hong Kong police will launch a two-week citywide crackdown on distracted driving and jaywalking following a 42% year-on-year increase in traffic fatalities in the first five months of 2026. The crackdown targets inattentive driving and pedestrian jaywalking, which contributed to 51 deaths, with pedestrians accounting for half of the fatalities.
