‘Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you’: Miami-Dade man accused of shooting at, beating ex-girlfriend

A Miami-Dade man is accused of shooting at and violently attacking his ex-girlfriend while their infant child was nearby. The suspect, Erick LaPlante, allegedly placed a handgun in her mouth, fired a shot, and beat her after demanding access to her phone. The victim fled with her sister's help after suffering injuries and complying with LaPlante's demands.
