After escaping the Taliban and years in exile, the Afghan women’s soccer team rises again

The Afghan women’s soccer team, after fleeing the Taliban and years in exile, has regained eligibility for international competition following FIFA’s recognition. Members now train in New Zealand and recently played a friendly against a Cook Islands team, marking progress after the Taliban banned women’s sports in 2021.
