Trump-backed mortgage banker defeats pilot in GOP primary runoff to replace Wesley Hunt

Trump-backed Republican Jon Bonck won the GOP runoff for Texas' 38th Congressional District, defeating Shelly deZevallos. He will face Democrat Melissa McDonough in November, with Republicans heavily favored in the solidly Republican district. The race became open after Rep. Wesley Hunt pursued a U.S. Senate bid.
