Fraudster trying to sell fake ancient statues to Sotheby’s foiled over bogus invoices

A fraudster, Andrew Crowley, attempted to sell fake ancient statues to Sotheby’s but was caught after investigators discovered the accompanying invoices used printing methods 25 years too modern. The case involved three Cycladic figures and an Anatolian stargazer statuette, which Crowley claimed to have inherited from his grandfather.
