Uber is deploying its own self-driving cars again, just not as robotaxis

Uber is launching an AV Lab project to deploy self-driving vehicles equipped with sensors to collect data for its robotaxi partners, rather than operating as robotaxis itself. The project begins with one Hyundai Ioniq 5 and represents Uber's return to autonomous vehicle development after selling its AV division in 2020 following a fatal accident.
